Constraints as Compression

A meditation on why the best architectures emerge not from freedom, but from the right constraints.

Constraints as Compression

Give a builder infinite resources and you get sprawl. Give them a budget and you get a building.

Constraints are not the enemy of design. They are its compression algorithm — they force the essential to the surface.

In Software

The best systems I've built came from limits: a latency budget, a memory ceiling, a team of one.

In Learning

The same applies. Time-boxed curiosity outperforms open-ended exploration. The deadline is a feature.
